that's how the whole fight went, just holding on as long as i could while trying to get him to get close and let his guard down

in the end i hit him so hard it was over in one punch and even now i still don't think i hit him hard enough

No, seriously, he's obviously surprised when a text comes back so rapidly, and he's admittedly cringing as he picks up his watch from where he'd put it down in nebulous apprehension; he's sure this is going to be one of many, an extended chain of reactions full of sputtering and disbelief and yes, support, but certainly some horror mixed in, too, because honestly Polnareff has every right to be, because he was there and he remembers and he knows.

Except.

...Except this is just it. Like it's nothing. Like it's fine. Like it's a party trick. Like it's Star Platinum's equivalent of the cigarette thing that Polnareff thinks is so damn cool, because he has good taste and it is.

[This is okay. They're okay. Everything is fine, because if there's one thing Polnareff knows without a doubt, it's that Jotaro's a good guy. Not the greatest man in the world, but a good person. Whatever small similarity Star Platinum has with the World is just a fluke, that's all.]
