it's a matter of best judgment

and then a benefit analysis of who is least likely to eviscerate me on a whim

your question presupposes my belief in the concept of good people

that's what i meant

in that case

i don't know that i can speak as an authority on this matter

i only recently encountered other stand users

but i would say that it's too simplistic to equate an aggressive or combat-based stand to a desire to harm people

similarly, i think it's too simplistic to assume that a stand whose primary characteristics are defensive or even neutral means its user isn't capable of extreme cruelty

the man i mentioned before, who tried to kill my friend, his stand created mold

the man i trusted most in the world, who was the best fighter i've ever met, his stand unzipped things; that's all

and i heal, and create life, but there's a lot of damage that can be done, creating life

so in short, yes, a stand says a great deal about its user

however, without the context of knowing that person, it's almost impossible to interpret what is being said by that stand's abilities alone

from knowing a person, that you could guess their stand's abilities?

i think it's possible, but highly unlikely

it's like assuming that just because you know what values a person has, that you'll know what career they want to pursue

certainly the second is a result of the first, but there are other factors involved, some of which are pure chance

i wouldn't have guessed an orangutan would have a stand that was a ship

or that it'd have a stand in the first place

a bit of an extreme example

but then we fought someone whose stand could only activate after they died, and i have no idea what that might say about someone's personality

why are you asking all of this, jotaro? i know you don't trust me, so i'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish

understanding someone means knowing what they believe in

i don't think that's something you can really show with a survey or an essay

it's hard for me to say, i never really had friends before, so i didn't know it was happening until afterwards, which i suppose must be strange to say

but there was a moment i knew he was someone i should fight for . . . when he was ready to sacrifice himself for our cause, to protect everyone else, to protect me

and i thought

there's too much beauty in this person to let him be anything but just what he is now
