no subject
that's what i meant
no subject
i don't know that i can speak as an authority on this matter
i only recently encountered other stand users
but i would say that it's too simplistic to equate an aggressive or combat-based stand to a desire to harm people
similarly, i think it's too simplistic to assume that a stand whose primary characteristics are defensive or even neutral means its user isn't capable of extreme cruelty
the man i mentioned before, who tried to kill my friend, his stand created mold
the man i trusted most in the world, who was the best fighter i've ever met, his stand unzipped things; that's all
and i heal, and create life, but there's a lot of damage that can be done, creating life
so in short, yes, a stand says a great deal about its user
however, without the context of knowing that person, it's almost impossible to interpret what is being said by that stand's abilities alone
no subject
from knowing a person, that you could guess their stand's abilities?
no subject
it's like assuming that just because you know what values a person has, that you'll know what career they want to pursue
certainly the second is a result of the first, but there are other factors involved, some of which are pure chance
no subject
i wouldn't have guessed an orangutan would have a stand that was a ship
or that it'd have a stand in the first place
no subject
a bit of an extreme example
but then we fought someone whose stand could only activate after they died, and i have no idea what that might say about someone's personality
why are you asking all of this, jotaro? i know you don't trust me, so i'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish
no subject
i guess maybe i'm trying to change that
i don't really know
no subject
if you just asked me questions, and i answered them
would that help, or would you just not trust them?
no subject
understanding someone means knowing what they believe in
i don't think that's something you can really show with a survey or an essay
no subject
it's up to you
i know what i believe, though
no subject
the one who went up against the mold
no subject
i'm not sure i know where to start
no subject
i mean did he do something or were you in a situation together or
no subject
i don't know
it's hard for me to say, i never really had friends before, so i didn't know it was happening until afterwards, which i suppose must be strange to say
but there was a moment i knew he was someone i should fight for . . . when he was ready to sacrifice himself for our cause, to protect everyone else, to protect me
and i thought
no, i won't allow that
there's too much beauty in this person to let him be anything but just what he is now
no subject
that he was willing to do that
no subject
no, not really
i was frustrated because he thought that was the only option, and he wasn't listening to me, not then
but i wasn't angry. i understood why he felt that way.
sometimes, if someone is devoted enough to something, they'd do anything for it
and if the cause is protecting the weak i can't fault anyone for it
that was . . . his honor system, you could say
no matter what it takes, protect those who can't protect themselves
no subject
would you have listened to him?
would you have died for him?
no subject
if i knew then what i know now
no, i wouldn't have
i wouldn't have wanted to hurt him like that
no subject
what if he were going to do it to show you how to save yourself
what would that make you feel?
no subject
unworthy
no subject
why did you
you answered me anyway
i don't understand
that hurt you but you answered me anyway
no subject
i knew if you were asking it was because there was an important reason
that you wouldn't just say something to say it
no subject
i guess not
someone died for me like that
i don't feel unworthy though i just feel
i don't understand why someone would die for me
no subject
that isn't even close to being enough but i am
i don't know the answer
other than whoever it was must have cared about you more than anything
