[Evidently the intensity of Rohan's enthusiasm is starting to take its toll, leaving Jotaro fast approaching the verge of being flustered from watching and being exposed to it. He's this happy...it's so cute he almost doesn't know what to do with it.
What he does do, though, is directs Star forward, closing the distance so that Rohan doesn't have to, and putting him well within reach of wandering hands if any should so choose to wander.]
It's kind of weird...I'm so used to having him out for fighting that he almost doesn't know what he's supposed to do when there's no battle around. But it's...I mean, we're adjusting to it. It's good to feel him there again. To know he'll be there if I ever reach for him.
no subject
He's like a huge purple security blanket. [ No offense. It rolls off of his tongue faster than he can catch it. ] If you aren't utilizing him for battle, then... What are you supposed to do with him? [ His fingers unlace to curiously wiggle them up next to the side of his head to see if the Stand will follow them with his eyes.
... Like, ya know, a cat. ]
I'm not saying we need another set of hands around the house.

[An instant passes, and then in a flash Star is moving, zipping across the room to retrieve the knickknack that Jotaro has evidently just sent him on a mission to go retrieve — what looks like a red rubber ball that presumably the dog has been chewing on.
It's far from the instantaneous, faster-than-the-eye-can-see movements he might've made at home, but he's still quite speedy about it, and seems pleased to have been given a task to complete in the first place.]
Sort of like you and your tail. Plus, he's a second set of eyes. That has its uses. And —
[He pauses a minute, and once again Star moves, but this time it isn't to retrieve a ball; on the contrary, this time it's a gift he's got in mind, and it comes in the form of a light half-phantom kiss pressed against Rohan's temple by grinning purple lips.]
...I don't know. I'm sure I can come up with something interesting to do with him.
[What a shit.]
no subject
[ Boy, Mana knows how to give you your junk back. Should he have splurged for Heaven's Door, he would have himself a floating butler.
OKAY, he didn't expect a weird ghost kiss. He bats at the air to half-assedly shoo the Stand away. Successful or unsuccessful, he's still going to Tsun Aggressively. ]
Was that you or him?
[ Is this going to be a thing now. ]
no subject
[He raises his eyebrows, waggling them in overt implication.]
Either way, I felt it. I guess it's true even outside of battle — what happens to a Stand reflects back onto its user.
no subject
I know how Stands work, Jotaro. [ God. ] If you want to kiss me so badly, you don't have to go through a third party.
[ Considering how bad the week has gone, this is Fine. ]
no subject
[And herein lies a discovery that even Jotaro isn't altogether aware of — the fact that while he may not be one to let his emotions find his way to their face, the same can't be said for Star Platinum, whose very being tends toward being influenced by Jotaro's suppressed emotions anyway.
So what an odd picture it makes, that Jotaro's got the beginnings of a very faint smile playing around the edges of his lips, while Star Platinum is flat-out grinning ear to ear.]
Because if it's that, he might want to try again and get better at it.
no subject
I didn't say that. [ A twinge of irritation plays in his voice because the prospect of kissing a Stand is literally one of those Experience Buttons he doesn't need to have pushed when he can just do the same thing with Jotaro. It's evident in his face, check it out. ]
I didn't know turning into a giant lizard would turn you into a giant tease along with it. [ The familiar, impatient thumping of his tail underneath him starts to rise up on the air. ]
no subject
[But he draws Star back to him, flashing a brief but warm glance up at his Stand, and then gets up himself to take the place near Rohan that Star has just vacated.]
I could have him prove what I've been saying about his sketching and copying abilities for you, but he'd need something to draw on first.
no subject
If he is sticking around, I have things to draw on all over the place. Does this mean I need to start keeping a book in your room too?
no subject
[The thought seems to please him, though; it's slight and subtle, but something about the idea of Rohan leaving something of his in a space marked out as his own is...nice. Homey. Encroaching without being intrusive.]
You can, if you want. Leave one in here, I mean.
no subject
I doubt I will spend a whole lot of time in your room but it couldn't hurt. If don't shit it up, you can put something in it too. [ Jotaro doesn't strike him as artsy. It's a courtesy. ]
I have books all over the house if you take a look around. I never know when I'm going to be struck with an idea. New places are a bastion of inspiration! I am thinking of doing everything I can to make this castle as perfect as possible, and that mean putting everything I can on paper.
[ Now he puffs out his cheeks, not noticing it. He huffs, therefore he is right. ]
You wouldn't understand.
no subject
Probably not. I'm sure it's hard to understand a feeling like that unless you have something that makes you feel a similar way.
[He shrugs slightly, skimming his hands along his hips near the pockets, like he's thinking of pushing them in but deciding against it.]
But I understand people who feel like that. Even if I don't understand the feeling itself.
no subject
I want to add more to this place. I expected a dead castle but I expected... You know... Earthy, olden flare. [ His lips draw up to the right, wavering. ] The bridge with no water is nice but the outside is missing something and I have never been much of a gardener.
My grandmother tried to get me into that when I was younger and it never stuck.
no subject
[And on your Gucci...]
Have you thought about finding a nymph to handle that for you?
no subject
I know two. I haven't seen hide or hair of Princess Anna or her sister.
That leaves your bestie Togashi.

[YOU NEW KIDS WITH YOUR NEW SLANG AND YOUR NEWFANGLED SNAKEBUTTS INSTEAD OF LEGS]
He's all right. And besides, you've already had Josuke over, so it's not really all that different, is it?
no subject
He's loud and vulgar. I'm not his biggest fan. Josuke is just an inconvenience. [ Rohan is the loud and vulgar one half the time. ] I will see if I can get him to come over for more decorating. If you are around, you two can... Do whatever it is you do.
[ He's been doing alright since Everything last week. More work and seclusion but he is doing Better. ]
Have you been doing alright?
no subject
[He runs a hand over his face, though, like the extra minute to compose himself is just what he needs to keep himself on an even keel.]
Having Star helps. And the dog. Having something there when I wake up suddenly...it helps. So yeah. Yeah, I'm doing okay.
no subject
I don't want to say it gets easier, but you think about it less and less as time goes on. Fits and starts are the worst that I get. [ Beat... ]
I have an advantage now. She tells me a few days beforehand when I'm going to need to eat again. It isn't baseless going out and finding something to use as a cushion just in case. It feels less problematic when She lets me know ahead of time.
no subject
[How many girls does Rohan even know? Certainly it's not Lorna; he already said he hasn't talked to Anna or her sister in a while; most of the people who hang around them seem to be guys...
...
Oh. Oh. That's right. He's left off the likeliest suspect. The questionably benevolent "She" who'd gotten all of them into this in the first place.]
...That is an advantage. How'd you manage to work out a deal like that?
no subject
It's... Hm. [ He his hand finds his chest and then his throat, dipping his fingers into his shirt to pull out that tarnished old key. ] It's like an entry-level perk for joining the Fog God. I left Her a letter in Miss Madoka's prayer box when I was having a creative slump. She has given me a few nice things as a result. I can visit Dyster whenever I want, I have a kind of crappy but private room there.
I know when I'm going to need to eat and She granted me a power that I still don't really understand.
no subject
[To his credit, his tone isn't running into the realm of judgmental here, at least not yet. It's more uncertain than anything else.]
So you're saying she tells you before you need it, and that way you never end up...starving yourself. Like I was.
no subject
All I have to do is visit Dyster every now and then and leave Her something that says I am still around. The perks grow if I follow Her directions and exceed Her expectations of me. I have heard that She can get rid of hunger for long, long periods of time if I stay. [ Which may not be true but... ] I don't know if that part is necessarily true.
I don't have much to lose if this means I am given more to work with. It sounds dangerous but I haven't run into any bumps in the road. Rumors of immortality and protecting valuable people is enough to make me want to. Don't think I'm brainwashed or anything.
i hope you realize the comment i'm responding to was #666 on this post
[And he almost says "usually end up doing it on the backs of someone else", but then the memory of the dead man and his dog come rushing back and the thought dies in his throat.
He's a monster living on the backs of other people, now, himself. Is he really one to talk?]
...I haven't had the best experiences with a lot of people who've tried. Protecting valuable people, though...that's something I can understand wanting to do.
it WOULD work out for me that way tbh
