it's not really about the living exactly
i mean it was before they were married
but dad loves music

i don't think he could be happy without it
and i don't think he could be happy without my mom

so they just
found a way to make it work out

he calls all the time
he makes sure to come home a couple times a year
he always sends mom flowers on christmas eve like they're still dating

actually i think it means he and mom have a better marriage than most people

he taught me how to play the guitar
i'm nowhere near as good as him but i'm pretty good

he taught me how to play a song so good that it'll make someone fall in love with me

we used to play this game when he was home
when i was first learning to play
he taught me to play a couple of chords
and how to do them over and over

we'd go find my mom
and i'd play the same couple chords over and over again
and dad would freestyle over me

when i was a kid i just liked the way it made my mom smile
it wasn't until i was older that i realized just how good dad really was
to be able to do something like that
