I think it depends on their environment, mostly. There are plenty of colorful freshwater fish, if you know which species to look for. Aquarium fish, for example — like clownfish, or bettas. The ones that are dull colors are probably that way to better blend into their environments in the wild.

[But, since he is well and truly snared by Snakebutt at this point, he's left to direct Star Platinum to ferry his fish over to a secure place for it, and then has him double back over to the bed to retrieve the box Jotaro had been trying to wrap before Rohan came in.

In a flash, Star is back with the package, which jingles slightly as it moves because this stupid fuck forgot to put tissue paper inside to keep the contents from rattling.]

[ Having Star Platinum around as an extra set of hands when Jotaro's are full of angry snake has been a blessing. Truly. Before Rohan can put his hands anywhere else, they fall onto the clittering-clattering box he is being offered. Using Star as the butler, he unwraps it whilst the Stand still has it in its hands-- ]

[It only takes one moment of hesitation, just a quick intake of breath, before he forges forward with deliberate determination.]

[ Rohan's scales pick up into a roll of purple colors-- Boyfriend. He's tossed that word around himself at people but hearing Jotaro say it is

Rohan doesn't try hauling all of it out at once. That's not possible. He picks up pieces of it and hold them up to the night. ]

Scales... For my... Scales...?

[ That isn't the least bit negative!! ]

You look good in it. The scale stuff, I mean, but also things that are kind of...exotic. Like bone jewelry, or when you dress yourself up...

[He reaches into the box and finds one of the gloves, drawing it out and holding it open as if inviting Rohan to slip his hand inside.]

It looked exotic. So I thought it'd be good for you.

[ An eyebrow of the skeptical variety rises. ]

Where did you find it? [ Rohan asks this while also indulging in slipping his clawed hand into the glove. He wiggles his fingers. He has always loved things that shine, the better part of the last year has amplified it. ]

I can't think of where I would wear the whole thing. I don't think I need an excuse to. I do as I please. [ He's verbally preening, yes. ] The whole piece wouldn't clash with my colors, would it?

That same store where I found the necklace. I think I'm just going to get all of your gifts there from now on.

[He adjusts the glove carefully around Rohan's fingers and hand, more for the sake of continuing to touch him than because it really needs the adjustments any.]

It'd look good with purple. If you were purple more often, that is.

[He pauses a second, then the corners of his mouth quirk up in sly amusement.]

I might have to work a little harder to keep you that way, but I'm willing to do it.

[ Rohan pulls his hand away in a flutter. Appraisal is going to take a moment-- fingers wiggling, wrist flicking. ]

It would match your aesthetic too. If I look at it that way, it sounds vain of you, Jotaro. [ He teases on a chuckle. ] If I stay purple all the time, I might have a heart attack. It only happens when I feel strongly about something.

How do you plan on that?

...Hah. You're right, we'd be a matched set.

[He says, casting a glance at the gold bands cutting through his dark purple scales with undisguised amusement.]

Only when you feel strongly about something, huh...I'm a little surprised you aren't purple all the time, then. Everything about you is strong — your will, your opinions. Why should your feelings be any different?

[ Not that he minds. At one point he peels the glove off and sets it carefully back into the box. ]

[He seems to debate a minute, then catches hold of Rohan and yanks him back in for a hard, fast surprise of a smooch.]

[ Snakebutt is just going to wrap Jotaro's legs right up with a squeeze. His hand swats at the gargoyle's chest right after.

[ Jotaro's clunky attempts at flirtation are endearing. Add the strangely romantic atmosphere and Rohan has something he will never put on paper. There is no preserving a moment like this in any medium that will do it justice.

Eh, Rohan could figure it out. He's rather caught up in what the Hell he's managed to do in almost a year of being stuck on this stupid peninsula. ]

[He slides a hand up, coming to rest against Rohan's cheek to cup his face, but the thumb slides gingerly over to stroke at the corner of his mouth where he knows those devastating fangs are hidden.

The room goes a little hotter. His face looks a little pinker, too, beneath the skin.]

Those fangs of yours would liquefy me, wouldn't they?

[ Thaaaaat... Was a question. One that Rohan took to heart and had to literally analyze because is just like that. ]

I don't know. You and I have shared food before. It means you have had exposure to my venom and not burned up from the inside. [ HM... ] I don't think they would. That or I would break them if I bit you anyway.
