He had heard his mother talk about him occasionally. Meeting someone from that side of the family wasn't something that would destroy his idea of anyone. He's ready for anything or at least hopes he is. Anger would have been the hardest but he can work with confusion. He can build off of that and maybe explain the situation a little bit better.
